TB Photovoice

TB Photovoice mobilizes TB affected communities (survivors, caregivers, friends, family) to take action and become a presence in discussions and  decision-making about policies and best practices for TB prevention, treatment, and elimination.

Our mission is to work beyond the cure for a world free of suffering from tuberculosis and poverty.   The unique photovoice method entrusts cameras into the hands of participants who take photographs that help them identify and improve their communities.  The photographs represent what is happening in the participants' lives and serve as a point for discussion about what can be done to change the present situation in regards to TB, stigma, education and other related issues.

Through this process of photovoice, participants share their local knowledge and photographs with each other in small groups.  They identify themes associated with TB and craft recommendations for best practices toward TB diagnosis, treatment and elimination.  Participants have found inner strength to use their personal testimonies to influence policymakers at the local, national and international levels.
